Claire Trott has been appointed as the first female chairman of Amps. The Association of Member-Directed Pension Schemes (Amps), is the industry body representing Sipp and SSAS operators. Our Director of Hartsfield Trustee Services Joy West is on the Amps committee.

There has been a lot of attention focused on the industry recently due to the Berkely Burke case – the landmark High Court ruling regarding due diligence for Sipp providers. It was a positive outcome that Berkely Burke lost the judicial review. The ruling states that they did not carry out checks for investments in a foreign country, which is simply an application of existing due diligence requirements. Although the ruling is limited in it’s the application to other Sipp providers, it should prompt companies with significant exposure to unregulated assets to review their due diligence.

Claire says that Amps “will continue the good work undertaken over many years and ensure confidence in the self-invested.”
