Jon is a Chartered financial planner with more than 23 years’ experience in the financial services profession. As well as the standard financial planning role he has two main areas of specialisation.

Jon has been accredited by the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA) as a specialist later life adviser, which means that he is an expert in areas such as Care Fees funding, Equity Release and Inheritance Tax and Estate Planning.

Due to his background, Jon also looks after the corporate clients, advising them with regards to their businesses, but also personally on how their decisions impact their own financial goals and aspirations.

Statement of professional standing

All financial planners and advisers must have an up-to-date Statement of Professional Standing (SPS). This shows they are suitably qualified for the position and have carried out the required amount of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

What matters most

What matters most to Jon about working for Hartsfield?

The culture and the people. Almost all financial services firms are ‘people’ businesses; we are usually intrinsically linked to our clients’ financial wellbeing. Therefore, an organisation which truly puts clients at the centre of what they do, and has the right people in the right positions, is more able to help clients reach their personal goals. As a business, we really do have the ability to offer independent, unbiased advice to people; there are very few firms who can do this.

What matters most to Jon about his specific role?

I enjoy helping people look for creative strategies, particularly those with complex financial planning requirements. My qualifications and experience mean that I am equally comfortable dealing with both personal and corporate clients. As a SOLLA member, I have been independently assessed and accredited as a specialist later life adviser, which means I can help elderly clients, and their families, to make informed choices.

What matters most to Jon outside of work?

Family life is very important to me. I am married with two children and love spending quality time with family and friends, going on holidays and watching as much sport as possible (much to the annoyance of my wife!). Any spare time after that is spent in the gym or enjoying the great outdoors.
