Bank looking to solve £5 animal fat issue

The Bank of England says its supplier is working on “potential solutions” to the issue of animal fat in £5 notes.
In a statement the Bank said the issue “had only just come to light” and it was treating the concerns with “utmost seriousness”.
News that the polymer fiver contains a small amount of tallow, which is derived from animal waste products, has angered vegetarians.
A petition to ban it has attracted more than 100,000 signatures.
